Comodo Time Machine For Windows Can Rollback Any Changes
Comodo has built quite a reputation for itself thanks to its high quality free security products. In fact Comodo Firewall is one of the best in the market. Time Machine for Windows is Comodo’s latest offering. As you may have guessed from the name, Time Machine is a rollback software which can restore your system to a previously backed up state.
Time Machine is currently in beta phase and as you would expect is still rough around the edges. This became apparent the moment I tried to install it on my laptop. It simply refused to install. Time Machine works only on IDE/SATA/SCSI disks and is incompatible with Bitlocker and other similar drive encryption utilities.
Time Machine is somewhat similar to other rollback software like Rollback Rx. It takes snapshots of your system and allows you to easily switch between them. You can take snapshots manually or use the schedule them using the Task Scheduler. The most attractive feature of Time Machine is the ability to mount snapshots as separate partitions. This allows you to selectively recover files from snapshots without resetting the entire system.
Comodo Time Machine for Windows is shaping up to be an excellent product. It beats Windows System Restore hands down and makes it look embarrassingly inadequate. It is definitely a product worth waiting for. Unfortunately, shady business practices of Comodo may put off many users. If you can look past that you would find Comodo Time Machine to be a worthy alternative to similar commercial software. If you are the adventurous type and want to help Comodo test Time Machine, go ahead and give it a try.
