Make Your Battery Last Longer With BatteryCare

Yesterday I reviewed Notebook Hardware Control which helps laptop users to make the best use of their system. Among other things NHC is capable of monitoring battery life and even extending it by automatically changing your LCD brightness and switching Power Plans. Today I shall take a look at another freeware called BatteryCare which is also aimed at increasing battery backup duration.

The main features of BatteryCare are:

Arrow Complete battery information : BatteryCare is capable of displaying pretty much every information you should know about your battery including manufacturer name, designed capacity, current capacity, wear level and voltage.

BatteryCare : Battery Information

Arrow Save Power : BatteryCare can automatically disable Windows Aero and other unneccesary services (SuperFetch, ReadyBoost and SearchIndexer) when your laptop is running on battery. Just disabling Windows Aero can increase your backup time significantly.

BatteryCare : Options

Arrow Automatic Power Plan Switching : BatteryCare can automatically change power plans (Performance, Ballanced or Power Saver) depending upon the power source of your computer.

Arrow Discharge Cycle Monitoring : Over time due to random discharge and charge cycles the battery level indicator becomes inaccurate and requires recalibration. BatteryCare is capable of monitoring Chage/Discharge cycles and automatically notifying you when a full discharge is required (recalibration of your battery).

Installing and using BatteryCare is a breeze. Its extremely lightweigh and uses less than 5MB RAM. The power saving measures taken by BatteryCare had a significant effect on my battery’s backup time. BatteryCare is a simple and efficient way to make your battery last longer.
