I was actually looking at health articles in general, but then I came across your article. It is extremely interesting, and has made me think about my PC’s health now, so it’s time to look after my electronic companion now, and I think I have badly neglected it.

One good thing about Fedora 11 is that it comes with the Palimpstest Disk Utility inbuilt. It tests all the HDDs attached and generates error and pre-fail reports. The system is very well integrated. It sits on the taskbar and warns of failing HDDs at login.

I attach two screenshots, one of my old and failing Samsung HDD and one of my new WD6400AAKS.
