    One good thing about Fedora 11 is that it comes with the Palimpstest Disk Utility inbuilt. It tests all the HDDs attached and generates error and pre-fail reports. The system is very well integrated. It sits on the taskbar and warns of failing HDDs at login.

    I attach two screenshots, one of my old and failing Samsung HDD and one of my new WD6400AAKS.
