Kaspersky 2010 on Windows 7 boots up to exploit under 60seconds for me.

And those who want more security will have to give up some resources in return. No need to give the Security suite a shit.

Zone Alarm Extreme Security did well but Zone Alarm Internet Security 2009 was among the worse performers.
I have used Avira a lot in the past and always found it to be light. However, its web antivirus can act up and at times really slow down downloads. Also I have noticed that it slows down file copying from pen drives more than kaspersky. May be that affected its ratings.
But, you are right Avira is among the lighest for all practical purposes.

Yeah. An Antivirus alone should be sufficient in most cases.
However, antivirus software also has some overhead. Unfortunately in a hotel environment some sort of protection is necessary.
